Hospice & Palliative Care
Hospice care is an end-of-life care that seeks to provide comfort and support – not only to the patient, but to the family as well. It is not a hospital bed surrounded by tubes and monitors. It is an environment where family members can sit with their loved one, and where patients are cared for not only physically but also emotionally.
Hospice care focuses on pain management and comfort measures, rather than curative medicine. This care is delivered through a team-oriented approach of expert medical care, pain management and emotional/spiritual support expressly tailored to the patient's wishes. The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), a proud member of Community Charities, is essential to this type of care.
